The Osher Marin Jewish Community Center (JCC) invited me to be featured at their annual gala and auction, "A Night in Venice" this weekend. This is an exciting event because it's such a great group of people, it will definitely be a fun time!

I will be there Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 9am to 4pm selling my hand-crafted, customized Venetian style masks.

Yesterday we had one heck of a fun time at the San Francisco Italian American Athletic Club! Here is the rest of this month's schedule.

Burning Man Wearable MASKs

What better place for a MASK party mask than at Burning Man 2011? This year 'Burners' kicked their Burning Man outfits up a notch with MASK face masks (check out the photos below). Anyone familiar with Burning Man -- a huge party out in the middle of the desert every Labor Day in Black Rock City, Nevada (not really a city but it becomes the second largest populated 'city' every September) -- knows that you can't "buy" anything, but you bring cool things or food or art to trade or give away. Italian-style, wearable masks are the perfect thing to give someone to give their Burning Man costume more flair! A masquerade mask will help bring out the creative side in any "look" and, of course, make it a fun experience.

It's been a fun summer in the Bay Area meeting so many new people and seeing people so happy with our masks! With only two more weekends until summer ends, start thinking about upcoming holidays and parties when you may want an exotic, fun or sexy face mask.

Hayward Zucchini Festival at Kennedy Park in Hayward, CA. Annual event with live entertainment, and lots of zucchini everything. Maybe we'll even hand-make a zucchini mask!

Ferry Plaza, Embarcadero, San Francisco. L-o-v-e this spot. Inside the Ferry Building Marketplace, it's like an indoor gourmet farmer's market. On Sunday, there is an outdoor farmer's market. Right on the water, the view is beautiful.

Saturday and Sunday, September 3-4
Millbrae Art & Wine Festival, Broadway Ave, Millbrae, CA. I saw that almost 1,200 people liked it on their Facebook page, so it must be good!

If you think masks are only worn for Mardi Gras and Halloween, you must be new to our blog and our MASKs! Our fans know that we are always thinking of new ways to channel imagination, diversity and creativity into our art.

When the San Francisco Giants were up to win the World Series last year, MASK was there to support its customers with customized Giants fan masks -- insulated to keep them warm in the San Francisco fog!

This month we are proud to bring our fans a brand new collection of wedding masks -- The Fairy Tale Wedding Collection.

Local legend Steve Pogni realized there was a need and seized the opportunity. "There is incredible value to understanding your customer. Every day I speak with people and incorporate their feedback into our work so that we may delight each customer, as well as cultivate repeat customers."

MASK Gets Hip With Square, Mobile Credit Card App

Short on cash? That's ok because MASK can now take your credit card right at the booth!

MASK has signed up for Square, which is a mobile credit card processing app for iPhones, iPads and the Android. Square was just launched in February 2010 so the concept is pretty new but word is spreading fast. For good reason, too. It's so simple, free to download, and extremely convenient, especially for mobile small business owners.

What is it? Square is a small, plastic cube that plugs into the headphone port on your phone. A slot in the cube lets you pass a credit card through. It then converts the data from the magnetic strip into an audio signal and passes it on to software on the phone. (Read Wired's review online.)

Seriously cool, huh? We try our best at MASK ;-)

What's next? Good questions. Perhaps mobile payment, which doesn't involve any plastic at all. According to Wikipedia, this is a new and rapidly-adopting alternative payment method. Instead of paying with cash, someone can use a mobile phone to pay for a wide range of services and digital or hard goods -- which then hits your phone app account, eg iTunes.

But for now we are loving Square so come visit us soon!

MASK at Sea of Dreams in San Francisco New Year's Eve

Now this was a blast of an event! It had an incredible vibe, amazing DJ's, and such creative outfits. Yes, it was the fabulous Sea of Dreams. With a big "Burner" following (aka Burning Man fans), it took place in San Francisco at the Concourse on 8th Street on New Year's Eve 2010.

Steve Pogni decked out his booth to look like a "dream" and we sold hundreds of MASKS to the (thousands of) attendees. People were in love with our latest designs (handmade face MASKS). We'll be back again next year!

KTVU Puts Steve Pogni and His Halloween Masks on TV

Last Thursday, Steve Pogni was on Market Street in San Francisco selling his masks when the Channel 2 KTVU news truck pulled up. The Channel 2 KTVU reporter started talking to Steve and about the Giants (go Giants!).

Channel 2 KTVU loved his comedy-tragedy masks as it symbolizes the Giants season -- meaning it was a season of torment for Giants fans because they kept losing but still the fans kept rallying, and now the Giants are finally winning and have a major chance of winning the World Series, woop woop!!

Sadly, I don't have the TV clip to show you but Steve was on TV for several minutes. If you have the video link, please email me.

They also loved the custom Giants baseball masks (which, by the way, can be found only at MASK kiosks). Not only are die-hard Giants fans loving the matching paraphernalia face masks but it also keeps their faces warm -- let's face it, AT&T Park is not the warmest of baseball parks.

So come by and pick up your Giants face mask -- or Halloween mask -- in our kiosk down near the Ferry Building in San Francisco or on Telegraph in Berkeley weekdays (and see schedule below for special weekend events).

Find Your MASK at Carnival Festival and Parade - Memorial Weekend

MASK will be honoring those who have died for our country, as well as celebrating the beginning of summer, by exhibiting at Carnival on Mission Street in San Francisco Saturday, May 29 through Sunday, May 30 (10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on both days).

Held in the San Francisco Mission District, this carnival is the regions' largest annual event and is a two-day series of festivities. Attendees will experience sizzling live entertainment, beautiful arts and crafts, and delicious food with Latin American and Caribbean flavors. Spanning 7 blocks, the San Francisco Carnival Festival will take place on Harrison Street between 16th and 23rd streets.

The Carnaval Grand Parade takes place on Sunday, May 30 at 9:30 a.m. at Bryant & 24th Streets before proceeding down Mission Street to 17th Street.

Celebrate St. Patrick's Day with an Amazing Mask

On Saturday, March 13, 2010 (this weekend), MASK will be attending the St. Patrick's Day Parade and Festival from10am - 5pm in San Francisco at the Civic Center Park.

According to Wikipedia, Saint Patrick's Day (Irish: Lá Fhéile Pádraig) colloquially St. Paddy's Day or simply Paddy's Day, is an annual feast day that celebrates Saint Patrick (circa AD 387–493), the most commonly recognized of the patron saints of Ireland, and is generally celebrated on March 17th.

A great event for adults and kids, the 158th Annual 2010 San Francisco St. Patrick's Day Parade attracts more than 5,000 participants from all over the country. The Festival will take place, before, during and after the Parade at San Francisco's Civic Center Plaza and on Grove Street, Polk to Larkin Street.

The addition of the Festival after the parade provides a great opportunity for attendees to learn more about Irish history and culture while having a great time experiencing the day. A full day of activity is planned for the St. Patrick's Day Festival at Civic Center Plaza and on Grove Street, Polk to Larkin Street.

The festivities surrounding the Parade Festival will showcase Irish Culture through live performance and entertainment, arts and crafts exhibitors, food and beverage concessions, children's rides and inflatable's, cultural displays, a petting zoo and pony ride and a number of non-profits booths representing the Irish community.

Mardi Gras Masks in the Bay Area!

On Saturday, February 20, 2010, MASK exhibited a special array of Mardi Gras party masks at Monroe Hall on College Avenue in Santa Rosa at Freddie Marsha's Dance Contest and Mardi Gras.

"Mardi Gras season", and "Carnival season", refer to events of the Carnival celebrations, beginning on or after Epiphany and ending on the day before Ash Wednesday. Mardi Gras is French for "Fat Tuesday" (in ethnic English tradition, Shrove Tuesday), referring to the practice of the last night of eating richer, fatty foods before the ritual fasting of the Lenten season, which started on Ash Wednesday.

New Orleans is known for its elaborate and wild celebration of Mardi Gras, but San Franciscans and Bay Area folks sure know how to party, too! MASK sold out of several varieties of feathered and jeweled face masks during the Freddie Marsha event.

Steve Pogni had a beautiful sunny day in Pacifica (a small beach town south of San Francisco) to show off his masks -- and it was just in time for Halloween so his booth was packed all weekend!

People of all ages had so much fun trying them on -- every design from feathers to glitter to horns to beads and all sorts of imagination. Watch the video (also found on YouTube):

MASK will have its Italian masks displayed at this weekend's Fog Fest in Pacifica, California from 10am - 6pm on Saturday and Sunday.

About Fog Fest: The Fog Festival kicks off Saturday at 10 am with the Discover Pacifica Parade and Marching Band Competition. Arts and Crafts booths, Food and Beverage booths and a variety of activities begin after the parade.

MASK Sparks Excitement on Sausalito Boat Party

As people arrived at the Sausalito dock for the private boat party for Aria Pogni's 13th birthday, they could choose from an array of Venetian Italian style masks to wear for the evening, provided by MASK.

Designs were selected to match the "Black and White Ball" theme -- and a special pink one to match the birthday girl's dress.

"These masks are so cool!," said one party goer. "I want to wear it for Halloween, too."

Thousands visited the West Alameda Business International Music, Food, Wine & Art Festival, called "Webster Street Jam", last weekend (September 12-13).

Of all the booths, the Alameda Sun could not help but notice one of the busiest booths, Steve Pogni's MASK, which featured hand-crafted Venetian Italian style masks!

The Alameda Sun included special tout in their recent newspaper for Steve Pogni's MASK booth, calling them "colorful and fun".
